How to pay for Sota VPN: methods, prices and paying from Russia

A Sota VPN subscription is paid on the payment page, which opens from the "Buy subscription" button in the dashboard. Bank cards, including Russian ones, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and cryptocurrency are accepted. Prices are in euros, terms run from a month to a year, and new users get the first 7 days for 1.49€. Below are the payment steps, how to pay with a Russian card, and how auto-renewal works.

How to pay, step by step

  1. Log in to the dashboard with your key. If you don't have a key yet, press "Generate" and save it, details in the guide "Sota VPN access key".
  2. On the dashboard home page press "Buy subscription". The sotacheckout.com payment page opens.
  3. Pick a term: 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. The longer the term, the cheaper each month works out. New users can take the 7-day trial for 1.49€.
  4. Enter an e-mail. The receipt goes there, and it isn't used for anything else.
  5. Choose a payment method and confirm the payment. Then go back to the dashboard: the subscription is already attached to your key, and the app connects right away.

Payment methods

  • Bank card. Credit or debit. For a Russian bank card choose the "Russian bank card" method on the payment page; other cards use the regular card payment.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay. Available on devices where they are set up: a couple of taps, no card details to type.
  • PayPal. For those who have a PayPal account.
  • Cryptocurrency. Works from any country and doesn't depend on banks.

Paying from Russia

Russian cards are accepted without restrictions. On the payment page choose the "Russian bank card" method, enter the card details and confirm the payment: the subscription is linked to your key right away.

  • If the payment didn't go through, check that this method is selected rather than the regular card option, and try again.
  • You can also buy the subscription through the @sota Telegram bot if the website doesn't open for you.
  • For any other payment question, message support.

How much it costs

The price depends on the term: paid for a year, a month works out almost a quarter cheaper than month by month. One plan covers all your devices, up to 10 at the same time, with no speed or traffic limits. Current prices are always on the Pricing page.

Taxes are included in the price. Any bank or payment system fee, if there is one, is paid by the buyer.

  • 1 month: 3.99€
  • 3 months: 10.99€, or 3.66€ a month
  • 6 months: 19.99€, or 3.33€ a month
  • 12 months: 37.99€, or 3.15€ a month
  • Trial for new users: 7 days for 1.49€ with every feature of the subscription

Auto-renewal

The subscription renews itself for the same term until you cancel it. The Auto-pay status and the payment method are shown under "Profile" in the dashboard. You can turn renewal off there with the "Cancel Auto-pay" button or through support: access stays until the end of the paid period.

The trial works the same way: if you don't cancel it before it ends, it turns into a monthly subscription at the regular price. Crypto payments have no automatic renewal: when the term ends, pay again.

Good to know

  • The trial is given once and to new users only. If you've had a subscription before, pick a regular plan.
  • One key and one subscription for all your devices, up to 10 at the same time: no need to pay separately for a phone and a computer.
  • For every invited friend who buys a subscription of at least a month you get 10 days. The invite link is in the dashboard, details on the Friend bonuses page.
